Windows 7 Openvpn

1. Get the Software

  • Download and install the software from here

2. Add a VPN Configuration

  • Download the openvpn configuration zip file vpn-win8.zip
  • Unzip the configuration zip file that you just downloaded
  • Copy unzipped files (uwc-tcp-win8.ovpn, uwc-udp-win8.ovpn, ca.crt) and paste it to: C:\Program Files\OpenVPN\config 
  • Launch OpenVPN client as an Administrator from your Desktop (Right click on OpenVPN client icon and click on “Run as administrator”) 
  • Or to avoid the inconvenience of the above step - Right click on the OpenVPN desktop icon, click on "Settings" and go to the tab "Compatibility". Check "Run the program as administrator".
  • Connect using uwc-tcp-win8 or  uwc-udp-win8  

3. Connect

  • To log in to the UWC VPN server, right-click on the OpenVPN GUI icon at the bottom right-hand corner and choose uwc-udp-win8, then Connect.
  • Alternatively, choose uwc-tcp-win8, then Connect.
  • The OpenVPN User Authentication will appear. Enter your UWC network login and password (same account used to log into Ikamva)
  • Click on the OK button to log in.
  • You are now connected through the UWC VPN. 
  • To disconnect, right-click on the OpenVPN GUI icon in the bottom right of your screen and choose Disconnect.
